Our Story
Foundation Era (1996-2000): A Teacher’s Vision
LekhaPara Publication was founded in 1996 by Abul Hossain Mian, a government assistant teacher with double master’s degrees in Bengali and Political Science. His first book—a Bengali Grammar textbook for Class 5 students—represented years of dedication and unwavering belief in educational excellence.
Abul Hossain balanced three demanding roles: teacher at Naimouza High School, homeopathy doctor, and author. Every spare moment was devoted to writing. When the manuscript was complete, he traveled to Kolkata with a simple question: How do you turn a manuscript into a published book?
Most publishing professionals refused to share trade secrets with an outsider. But his genuine dedication eventually softened a few hearts. He learned where to find typists, which paper wholesalers offered quality materials, which printing presses delivered reliable work, and how to determine optimal pricing.
When local schools rejected his first book, he made a bold decision: he would promote it himself. During holidays and evening hours, he visited schools throughout the region, meeting Bengali teachers face-to-face. By 1997, several schools finalized his book on their official booklists.
Family Involvement Era (2000-2014): Building Together
As the catalog expanded, Abul Hossain partnered with bookshop owners near schools. But business management was not his strength. Despite growing sales, the business operated at a loss for years.
During these challenging years, his wife kept the business afloat. She took loans, pledged her jewelry, and eventually learned Desktop Publishing to bring production work in-house. With help from their elder son Nazmul, she mastered typing and formatting, significantly reducing costs.
By 2010, the family recognized that fundamental change was necessary. In 2012, they implemented radical policy changes: increased agent commission to 50%, eliminated cash payments, and required 100% advance payment before shipment. For the first time in 16 years, LekhaPara was profitable.
Tragically, Abul Hossain passed away from cancer in August 2014. The teacher, doctor, author, and publisher who built LekhaPara from nothing was gone.
Mother’s Leadership Era (2014-2024): Resilience and Expansion
In November 2014, just three months after her husband’s death, Abul Hossain’s widow announced that LekhaPara would continue. She was now in charge.
For ten years, she single-handedly managed LekhaPara. She dealt with agents, coordinated with printing presses, managed inventory, and developed new titles. Having learned Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, and English typing with help from her younger son Abdur, she began creating new textbooks herself.
She approached a friendly Arabic teacher who provided proofreading help while she referenced existing materials. Abdur handled content design and cover design. This collaborative approach allowed LekhaPara to expand its catalog without expensive author contracts.
Digital Transformation Era (2023-Present): Building for the Future
Abdur Rahman Choudhury completed his Master’s degree in Biochemistry in 2015 and gradually took over business operations. By 2023, he made a decisive commitment: LekhaPara would undergo complete digital transformation.
He created comprehensive financial tracking systems, developed password-protected agent portals, adopted professional invoicing software, replaced bus delivery with courier service, and separated business finances from household accounts. The transformation freed his mother from daily operations after ten years of dedicated service.
But Abdur’s vision extended beyond optimizing the physical textbook business. He launched a second division: digital educational content publishing. This new venture targets English medium students across India (Classes 5-12, CBSE and ICSE boards) with free, comprehensive educational resources.
Our Business Divisions
Physical Textbook Publishing
We publish Bengali medium textbooks for Classes 5-8 in West Bengal, covering Arabic Language, Islamic Religion, Islamic History, and Hindi Language subjects. Our books reach schools through a network of registered bookshop agents who promote our titles to teachers and students.

We create free educational resources for Classes 5-12 (CBSE and ICSE boards) across India. Our digital platform offers study guides, chapter summaries, practice questions, and printable materials designed to replace commercial guide books with improved, freely accessible alternatives.
